Weatherling Reached #13 in Utilities on the Mac App Store
Weatherling launched a couple nights ago, and it has already reached #13 in Utilities on the Mac App Store.
That is a pretty surreal milestone for a tiny Mac app whose whole job is to make your desktop feel more alive.
Weatherling adds rain to your Mac desktop and lets it interact with your windows. Raindrops fall, splash, drift with the wind, and bring a little atmosphere to whatever you are working on. It is playful, ambient, and intentionally simple.
The app was built around a few core ideas:
- It should feel native to the Mac.
- It should be fun immediately.
- It should not require weird permissions.
- It should not record your screen.
- It should not collect private data just to make rain appear on your desktop.
Weatherling is a small app, but the response so far has been much bigger than expected. Seeing it appear in the App Store Utilities chart next to long-running Mac apps is genuinely exciting.
