Weatherling is designed to be private by default. Everything the app does happens locally on your Mac.

The Mac app

Weatherling does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, and no backend service. The app makes no network requests.

To draw rain around your windows, the app reads the public on-screen window list that macOS provides to every sandboxed app: window position, size, layering, and the owning app’s process ID. It never reads window titles or window contents, and it never captures your screen. It does not ask for Screen Recording, Accessibility, Input Monitoring, Automation, or any other protected permission.

Your settings (rain intensity, wind, display choices, per-app pause rules, and the like) are stored in the app’s sandboxed container on your Mac and never leave your device.

This website

This website may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate visit counts. It does not identify individual visitors and it is not used for advertising.

If you visit from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, analytics does not load until you choose Allow all in the cookie notice. If you visit from California, analytics may load first and you can opt out with Reject unnecessary, which stops the script and clears its cookies. Elsewhere, analytics loads without a prompt.

Your choice is remembered in this browser’s local storage, not in a cookie of its own. Clearing site data forgets the choice. The site has no sign-in and sets no other cookies.
